Happy Leap Year Day! Not sure if it is a reason to celebrate, but then again, why not?!

Here is some Leap Year trivia you may or may not know:

1. Leap Year has been the traditional year for a woman to propose marriage.
2. In Greece, there is a superstition that it is bad luck to marry during a leap year.
3. Anthony (Tony) Robbins, the American motivational speaker, was born on this day.
4. Julius Casear was the first to declare the last day of February as Leap Year Day, although the Egyptians are credited with first discovering the man made calendar and solar year didn't match up.
5. The last year of a century isn't a Leap Year unless it's evenly divisible by 400.

There was a line from "Gone With the Wind" that said "Mother always said you could tell a lady by her hands". I am not sure if the same theory holds true in today's world, but I do believe looking at details, like the hand, laugh lines, a scar, etc., can give a little insight into a person. Next time take a moment to notice and appreciate the detail.

This little drawing was done by my first grade teacher, ***(wink wink) years ago! She drew a likeness for every member of the class and I have kept my drawing to this day. I wonder if any of my fellow classmates kept their's too? I wonder if my former teacher knew that her effort would be treasured many years later? This brings back such wonderful memories of those early years.

I wish I was still this cute. LOL. ;)

Happy President's Day for those of you lucky enough to have the day off. In honor of the day, we thought we would post an image of the late President Kennedy and his wife. My uncle is also in the picture and he and my grandfather were fortunate enough to meet them the day before the President was assassinated in Dallas.

It is amazing to look at this photograph and observe how jubilant and happy everyone was, not knowing the fateful events that were going to occur the following day. An image is truly worth a thousand words. Document wisely.

The Princess and the Stormtrooper

This was my second time photographing these 2 little people, and gosh have they grown up! One thing that hasn't changed is the beautiful Miss H is still a princess and handsome Mr. D still loves Star Wars. They also went out for "princess" pepperoni pizza after my time with them, just like last year. I love being a part of what is now becoming an annual tradition.

Family defined - a group of people that love and care for one another. Can we all saw awwwww? I cannot think of a nicer group of people to illustrate this point. Not only are they the sweetest family, but they also happen to be my neighbors and the first people we met in our town when we moved here 5 years ago. Thanks for being so wonderful to us and we can't wait to watch Miss "E" grow up!

When the media is always spouting off that the divorce rate is 50%, it is an extreme pleasure to meet a couple who has defied those statistics and have been married for 50 years! I had the honor of meeting the Ragans and their 4 adult children, each of whom had come from the East coast to celebrate this occasion with their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ragan, congratulations! I am truly blessed to have met you and your wonderful family and to be inspired by your marriage.

Here is THE cutest flower girl (no, I am not a prejudice mom -LOL) dancing with the bride, and my son with the Maid of Honor- just one of his many dancing partners! (if he were 16, he probably would have appreciated dancing with all the pretty girls more!) My son caught the garter, and in typical fashion of a boy his age was more excited that he "won", but was a little disappointed when he found out what it meant! ;)

Flower Girl

My daughter is going to be the flower girl in my cousin's wedding (see my November 15th post) this July 4th and we decided to "play" in her flower girl dress. She is looking forward to the wedding and keeps reminding herself that the bride is the center of attention on the wedding day- LOL. :) Looking at these images, I wonder where the time went...tear...she looks so grown up.

The other day, I had the pleasure of photographing Dr. Samantha Best, a chiropractor, located in Green Valley. Doesn't she have the "best" last name for a business?! I love it, but I am sure she has heard that before. :)

I do have a little confession- this lovely doctor assisted "me" in her own photo session! Dr. Best suggested and offered the use of her step ladder, which was extremely helpful and made my job easier. Thank you Dr. Best! (I have since purchased one for my own use) I hope if any of you are in need of a chiropractor, you give Dr. Best and her staff a call @ 520-648-6200.

A few more "peaks" before I get down to finishing the rest of the proofs, which I am trying to do in between painting the inside of my house (My dear husband woke up yesterday and decided to paint- maybe he was inspired by something on Rachel Ray-LOL).

I had the pleasure last week of photographing the McQuade family, and what a beautiful family they are, and not just on the outside! They welcomed me in their home and Mr. "D" even invited me to stay for dinner. What a wonderful and well-mannered young man you are- your parents must be proud! Speaking of dinner, Miss "M" taught me about Princess Pepperoni Pizza. I couldn't wait to go home and tell my little girl about this new delicacy. Miss "M", you are a precious little princess!

While the country will be celebrating its independence next July 4th, these two lovebirds will end their "independence" as they join in marriage to become one! I had the incredible pleasure to photograph Nick & Ashley, not once, but twice! The first session was at the University of Arizona, where these two met and will be graduating next Spring. If rumor has it right, it was Ashley that approached Nick (and his family is happy that she did!). The session at the University was followed by the indoor ones we took this past weekend. These two were troopers as they allowed me to "play" with some ideas I had. This couple is as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside! I wish you two all the best!

Rancho Sahuarita Business Fair!

It was a beautiful Saturday for the Rancho Sahuarita Business Fair and we are so glad all of you were able to attend! Hopefully none of you were sunburned like I was, but it was worth it to meet all of you.

Besides meeting all of the attendees, I was able to meet some fellow business owners and what a great group of people they are and I hope you take the time to support our local businesses. I met Javier and his wife; they own a medical business providing services to doctors (www.advancedprofessionalservices). Kate and her husband own Computer Troubleshooter (www.computertroubleshooters.com) and have a rapidly growing business that solves your technology problems. 2 men that can service your insurance needs- Mark Heltemes with State Farm in Green Valley and John E. Peterson with New York Life (www.jepeterson.com). Holly just moved here from Lousiana and has the cutest New Orleans accent. She represents Southern Living at Home which is the interior products division of Souther Living Magazine. Finally, I met the two lovely ladies below! They just opened up Experiences Salon & Spa in Green Valley (across from Manuel's Restaurant and upstairs). They moved here all the way from Chicago and I can't tell you how excited I am that they are here. They don't have their website yet, but I will post a link as soon as they do.
